J.Davis

I started singing when I was 17 years old… I never knew I could sing I just knew was good at imitating people. But I had to be able to at least hum to get this job one time and I started singing then and have been singing ever since. My musical influences are Jamie Foxx and Tank. Man I just connect with their music. I would describe my music as a new school R&B, I’m not your traditional R&B artist I try to put my own swag to it. The first song I ever wrote is called “All of me” and I made that probably about 4 years ago. I was new to writing but I think it is a good song. I was inspired to write it by the things that were going on in my life at that time. It was a while before I recorded my first song in a studio. I liked the way I sound once it was all complete. I was born December 23 here in Dallas, raised in Dallas and still reside here working on my music. Ultimately I want to win a Grammy and an Oscar award (yeah I shoot high), I love singing but I also have a passion for acting. My every day goals in life are to continue to be happy and successful and to make the best of my life in every aspect. I believe in self expansion and I try to surround myself with positive people that I can expand and build on who I am as a person. Someone asked me once what was the top ten songs in my ipod today… sorry I don’t have an ipod but if I did the songs would be a hot mix of my own music, Porsche Nine, Tank, Jamie Foxx , Usher , Drake and Bruno Mars. I am working on my first album but haven’t really come up with a name for it yet but you can believe it will be HOT. I have worked with a few producers here locally, to name a few Porsche Nine, Oz and Zay. I love to write music but I mainly write for myself. I have people to ask me to write for them and I miss out sometimes because I usually have to personally know a person before I could write to their track. To me it makes it more real when the words flow onto the paper and then you hear it on the track you can really connect with it. To me R&B today is slightly different from my preference. I like intimate, real songs that you can relate to not just a hot beat and no feeling that’s not music, that’s Just a HOT BEAT. Seems to me like a lot of R&B singers today don’t show any range in their music, they stay in one zone and never get out the box to show their real potential. It’s like they all sound the same, no one is unique or stands out. It like they are recycling styles. I plan to change that and make my mark and be different. I love to traveled a lot in general …I have not traveled much for my music yet but that will change soon. Music is my full time occupation and love. I am dedicated to making my music a success. Even though I am still very new in the music industry and I know I have much to learn but I also know I have a lot to offer. I can’t wait until it’s my time to set up to the mic and answer the question “Who is J.Davis”.
