Shannon Shareal Richardson was born June 28, 1976 better known by her stage name Shareal’ Starr. She was raised in Texas by her grandmother in the city of Dallas. Starr has always had a love of seeing people fulfill and live out their impossibilities so she went to East Field College to study counseling and music.
Starr’s passion for reggae music came in her teen years because, she spent time in Spanish Town, Jamaica where she developed a heart and passion for the Jamaican culture. She studied reggae artistes such Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Desmond Dekker, and other great musicians.Starr also sings jazz, gospel, and many other kinds of music but, her passion is to sing and write to reggae eccentric music. She said,” Reggae music just flows naturally.” She has performed with many famous reggae artists such as: Bennie Man, Spragga Benz, Tifa, Barrington Levy, Freddie McGregor, Marcia Griffith, Shaggy, Etana, Capleton, Tanya Stevenson, Chaka Demas&Pliers, and many more. ‘Starr is a radio personality on one of the largest radio station in Dallas, Texas, KNON on 89.3 FM “The Reggae Zone.”
